What are the Uber Eats Driver Requirements?
Each food delivery program has their own rules about who can drive. In this post, I will go over the Uber Eats Driver Requirements in most cities. While cities can vary in their requirements, I’ve listed out the requirements that are held by the majority of cities (including the one I drive for.) Even cities that may vary, don’t vary by much.
To start with, you must be at least 19 years old.
You also must have a valid drivers license, registration, and proof of insurance.
You will need to have had have had your license for at least a year.
In addition, you will need to pass a criminal background check.
What kind of car must you have?
While a few select cities do have the option to deliver via bicycle, in general, you must have a car. Here are the requirements for your car in most cities.
Your car must be at least year 1999 or newer.
Your car needs to be a 2 door or 4 door, and should be in good condition. While there is no inspection required for delivering Uber Eats like there is for Uber, you don’t want to end up stalled in the middle of the road during a delivery. Or, at any time, for that matter.
And while it’s not required, I highly recommend enrolling in some type of roadside assistance program. I personally use AAA roadside assistance. You can also add roadside assistance to your insurance for just a few dollars a month, if that. Or, you can even opt in to Uber’s roadside assistance plan.
Delivering via Bicycle.
In some cities you may be able to deliver with a bike. However, there will likely be limited delivery areas available to you when you use this option.
Here is some information about delivering on a bicycle.
If you are in a city that allows you to deliver with a bike, you can be as young as 18.
To deliver with a bike, you still need a valid State ID card.
You also should have protective gear such as a helmet, and a bike in good repair.
You want to make sure that you select that you are delivering with a Bike when you sign up.
