Hi everyone! My name is Misty. Thank you for visiting my page where I can tell you about the incredible journey I’m beginning with side hustles.
I’m just starting this exploration, and look forward to filling up the pages of this blog with all the adventures, successes, and even mishaps along the way.
Not very long ago, I was beyond broke!
In 2015 I was working at 3 different 7-11’s trying to keep afloat. A single mom to two wonderful kids, and renting a room because that’s the only way I could afford to keep a roof over our heads. I received food stamps from the state which kept us all eating.
It still gets me how rude people (even cashiers sometimes) can be to people using food stamps. I was working more than 40 hours running from one 7-11 to the next, trying to get by, but they all just saw what they thought was a lazy bum costing the state money.
There’s something really wrong when you’re working full time, and still can’t afford to take care of your family.
I’m not rich today, but I’ve taken a few steps to a better life!
I realized that to have a better life, I needed to stop the bleeding. I needed a way to break away from 7-11 which was never going to pay me enough to get on my feet. I needed a side hustle.
I took my next tax refund with the earned income credit and bought a cheap car. Then I signed up to be an Uber delivery driver. My new car, (cough), was just barely in the age range Uber would allow, and it passed inspection! Yay!
Being able to drive on my schedule freed me up to downsize to just one 7-11, and then I took the jump and quit all together, doing just Uber to support me for a few months. Don’t get me wrong, Uber doesn’t actually pay that great, but if you do enough hours you can get by for a while. And that’s what gave me the time flexibility to be able to search for, interview for, and get an entry level call center job.
After moving to better paying call center jobs a couple times, I’m now making almost twice what I was when just working at 7-11. Now I have an actual apartment, with separate bedrooms, and am no longer on food stamps! I’ve also since bought a newer car 2015, (not new mind you, but newer!)
I’m no expert yet, but I’m ready for better paying side hustles…
Uber and Uber Eats is a great way to stop the bleeding if that is what is needed, but now I’m settled and ready to make some real money.
So I googled side hustles and came across scam after scam after scam. A legitimate looking idea here and there, amidst even more scams. I’m gearing up and getting ready to do some wading and sifting.
I will be posting all the information I know and learn about making money with side hustles, so that others can learn at a much quicker rate, and improve their lives as well. You may not be hurting as much as I was, or you may be hurting more. But if you’re here, you’re looking for a way to improve your lot in life just like I was and am. And I am ecstatic at the opportunity to share everything I learn.
If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
